As yoga continues to flourish in our area, it seems the perfect time for an association of local studios and teachers in unity and support of the betterment of the minds, bodies and souls of the Greater Jacksonville communities. This is not a new concept for our area and is the perfect time to initiate! Please accept this letter as an invitation into the newly introduced First Coast Yoga Association (FCYA).

The FCYA will be comprised of area yoga instructors and studios working together in mutual support, education, community outreach and marketing (to name a few) by means of yogic principles and practices. This will be done primarily through this website, quarterly meetings, education opportunities, ongoing support and e-newsletters for teachers and students.

This website is currently the first and only centralized yoga directory for Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. The purpose of the website is to provide a place for yoga practitioners and teachers to come together for the common purpose of promoting yoga and healthy living.

As we begin this endeavor, we are asking for your support. This will be a great resource for both students and teachers if we all come together and make it happen. This is our chance to practice what we teach…let’s show our students that we are in support of yoga collectively.

Current Mission Statement (open for discussion): “Committed to bettering the minds, bodies, and souls of the Greater Jacksonville communities through yoga and healthy living.”

Overall, the association will:

• Provide locally administered Internet yoga directory for the Greater Jacksonville area.

• List an up-to-date Calendar of Events (via website).

• Post job openings from potential employers as well as requests for substitutes.

• Foster networking opportunities for yoga teachers and students.

• Sponsor educational, social, and fundraising events for yoga teachers and/or the public in support of Charities and community organizations.

• Provide educational information and support for teachers and/or the general public.

• Promote and offer resources for whole and healthy living for yoga teachers and the public.

• Provide seminars, trainings and workshops for yoga instructors, which can be used towards Yoga Alliance continuing education requirements (when requested).
